Wave Clone is a Windows multimedia tool allowing you to share Wave (MME) ports among several applications. Because many audio (wave) drivers are single-client, allowing only single application to use each port at same time, you cannot, for example, record from the microphone to two application simultaneously. Wave Clone brings multi-client feature to any audio port in your system, allowing unlimited number of applications to use them at same time.
Wave Clone can be useful under Windows 95/98/ME/2000 only. Windows XP/2003 always have multi-client capability and Wave Clone will be useless under these systems.
Wave Clone is a "wave-version" of the "MIDI multi-client add-ons" like MultiMid or Hubi's Loopback drivers.
If more than one applications are sending audio to a port shared (cloned) by the Wave Clone, it will mix all streams together. If more than one applications are receiving audio from shared port, Wave Clone will distribute (copy) the same audio data between all targets.
Wave Clone is useful to, for example, record from the line input to several applications - encoders, level and THD meters, disk recorders etc.
If you need to intercept the audio stream coming from an application and route it to other applications, take a look to the Virtual Audio Cable software.
The demo version of the Wave Clone has following limits:
Download version 1.03 for Windows 95/98/ME/NT4/2000/XP/2003 (80 kb)
Since 2008, Wave Clone is completely free.
If you have experienced any problems with Wave Clone, please contact me. See the Support chapter in the Manual for the request format guidelines.
